(CNN)A search operation in Malaysia is underway for a catamaran bring 31 individuals, consisting of 28 Chinese travelers, after it went missing on Saturday, Malaysian state news firm Bernama reports.

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) stated the catamaran left the eastern Sabah state on Saturday and was gone to an island popular with travelers. An authorities report was lodged 13 hours later on that stated the vessel was missing out on.
