(CNN)Sen. Ted Cruz applauded President Donald Trump's Supreme Court candidate Neil Gorsuch, calling him "an outright crowning achievement."

Cruz advised Democrats to not filibuster Gorsuch's election, pointing out the election.

"I believe this election was a referendum," the Texas senator stated.

"It was a referendum for the American individuals.
