(CNN)United States Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon rejected a conference with Vice President Mike Pence after slamming him for his position on gay rights, USA Today reported Wednesday.
In a post on his main Twitter account Thursday, Pence informed Rippon the United States delegation was "for you," and alerted him not to let the "phony news" sidetrack him.
"I take pride in you and ALL OF OUR GREAT professional athletes and my only wish for you and all of #TeamUSA is to bring house the gold. Go get 'em!" he informed the professional athlete.
