On Thursday, the Carver County Sheriff's Office released their interview with Sinead O'Connor from May 2, 2016, eleven days after Prince died at the age of 57.
The Irish singer — who famously covered the Purple Rain musician's song Nothing Compares 2 U in 1990 — told authorities that the artist used "hard drugs" and was "extremely violent" toward women, including herself.

In the audio, the now-51-year-old can be heard saying:
"In the case of Prince, everyone is mistaken who believes that he did not have a drug habit for the entire of his life. He used hard drugs commonly… I know this because I spent time with the man… He did not release an album, famously, which is called The Black Album. The reason he didn't, he told me himself, was that he had been taking so many dark drugs that he had had a vision from God and God had told him, the album [was] evil and he was not to release it."
Despite these claims, the controversial songstress says she never actually saw Prince use any drugs.
"I've seen him in very frightening conditions after using drugs. Now, I cannot say that I ever saw him use the drugs. I never saw him actually take them. He would retire to another room to take whatever the drugs were. When he would come out of the room, he would be very violent, very aggressive. His eyeballs would disappear, literally, from his eyes. They vanished."
In regards to his alleged violence toward women, O'Connor explained:
"He had been extremely violent to a number of women in his life, including myself, and several women were put in the hospital while Prince was under the effects of these medications."
Sinead even recalls an alleged incident where she had to leave his residence because he tried "to beat the shit out of [her]."
"He tried to beat the shit out of me… I had to escape out of his house in the middle of the night, I managed to escape out of his house, he had me locked in the house ready to beat the shit out of me because he had gone upstairs and taken some kind of weird drug… Prince was not a very nice man. I always joked that they didn't call him Prince for nothing."
In an interesting twist of events, on Thursday, Prince's estate released a music video for Nothing Compares 2 U.
As we reported, on Tuesday, no criminal charges were filed in his death as "there is no reliable evidence showing how Prince obtained the counterfeit Vicodin laced with fentanyl, or who else may have had a role in delivering the counterfeit Vicodin to Prince."
