Washington (CNN)The African Union, a group representing the continent's nations, and African ambassadors to the United Nations, dramatically knocked United States President Donald Trump's referral to African countries as "shitholes" and contacted him to withdraw his declaration and say sorry.
Condemning the remarks "in the greatest terms," the AU required "a retraction of the remark in addition to an apology, not just to the Africans, however to all individuals of African descent around the world."
African UN envoys released a declaration sayingtheir group is "very horrified at, and highly condemns the outrageous, xenophobic and racist remarks credited to the President of the United States of America."
