But all that was a world away Tuesday night at the Russian embassy in Washington, as high school trainees from middle America took part in an abundant cultural exchange.

About 200 high school trainees from the Homestead Spartan Alliance Marching Band, coming from Vice President Mike Pence's house state of Indiana, remained in the audience for musical efficiencies from American, Russian and Ukrainian artists as part of the Embassy Series, a repeating performance program that aims to unify individuals "through musical diplomacy."
