(CNN)Police fatally shot a 15-year-old kid after he pointed a BB weapon at an officer in the car park of a San Diego high school, authorities stated.

The occurrence begun when a 911 call was available in early Saturday, asking officers to look at the well-being of an unarmed kid standing in front of Torrey Pines High School.

While the caller did not offer a name, initial details later on identified the young boy made the call and was describing himself, San Diego Police stated in a declaration.

When 2 officers came to the scene, they saw the teenager.

" As the officers left their police car to get in touch with the male, the male pulled a pistol that was hidden in his waistband and pointed it at one of the officers," authorities stated.

"Both officers drew their weapons while consistently providing the male commands to drop his pistol. The subject chose not to comply. Fearing for their security, both officers fired their weapons."

The young boy was struck numerous times and officers carried out emergency treatment and summoned paramedics, however he was noticable dead at a healthcare facility.

Investigators learnt after the shooting that he was bring a semiautomatic BB air handgun, authorities stated.

'A tough time'

Both officers were using body electronic cameras however it's uncertain whether the video footage would be launched, CNN affiliate KGTV reported.

The teenager was just determined as a Torrey Pines High School trainee who lives near the school. Since of his age, Authorities decreased to launch his name.

"Our hearts head out to the trainee, his household, and his pals," Eric Dill, superintendent of the San Dieguito Union High School District, stated in a message to trainees . "This is a hard time for the household and we have to let them grieve."

San Diego Police stated the 2 officers included are a 28-year veteran and a four-year veteran of the department.
