British YouTuber Oliver Potter, known as OliverVlogss, has been entertaining his audience for years with vlogs, video challenges, collaborations and motivational clips.
The vlogger often features his five-year-old brother, Alfie, in videos, and whether they’re opening early Christmas presents or discussing how babies are made, they are always adorable.But Oliver has never been so vulnerable on camera as he was in his latest video, where he tells Alfie that he is gay. Coming out to loved ones is never a simple task, and one can only imagine that doing it on camera adds an extra layer of pressure. Thankfully, Alfie’s reaction was not only kind and supportive… it was ridiculously touching. The video, which has alreadygotten over 350,000 views, is warming the hearts of viewers everywhere, who are immensely impressed with this five-year-old’s mature reaction. To get the conversation rolling, Oliver started off talking about the mother of all topics: love. He asked Alfie, “How do you think about love…do you think boy, girl, marriage, baby?” Alfie responded in a sweetly simple way that only a five-year-old can, saying, “If you’re a mom and you want to be in love with a dad, you get in love with them.” Oliver then asked Alfie if he has noticed that his brother doesn’t have a girlfriend, to which he responded yes. But it wasn’t until Oliver asked the big question that the video turned truly heartwarming. He looked at Alfie and said,“So how would it make you feel if I married a man?”, to which the little boy replied,“If you marry a man it’s going to be so cool.I saw in one movie a man was in love with another man and everyone was saying cool, cool.Love is love.” Oliver shares a look of joy, relief, and pride when he learns that his little brother accepts him for exactly who he is, and the video only gets more lovely. The two begin to discuss having children, and Oliver explains to Alfie that two men cannot have a baby. Alfie then refers to the ability to adopt, and says the most sweet and mature thing we have ever heard a child say: “when you have a baby you’ll get the ones who got lost”. Now that the brotherly duo has successfully turned every single viewer into a puddle of emotions, they finish the video with a little ad-libbed song about being who you want to be. Oliver posted the video with a caption saying, “My brother’s reaction made me realise what a kind and gentle soul he is. He is right… Love is love, you really can be who you want to be you just have to pluck up the courage to make it happen.” Oliver told The Mirrorwhy he decided to film this intimate moment and post it for the world to see: “I wanted to show people that no one is too young to understand that love is love.I hope it gives people courage to open up the conversation with their friends, siblings, children or whoever they choose.Since Alfie has known Im gay he has been as loving as always. He has even been to school and told his friends that his brother would marry a man. They all took it well and think it’s pretty cool which makes me smile.” Well we are certainly impressed with this wise five-year-old, and hope to see many more videos of these siblings in the future.
