Fans of Keeping Up With the Kardashians have been eagerly anticipating a new spin-off show all summer, this time, revolving around the youngest member of the multi million dollar family, Kylie Jenner.

The show, titled Life of Kylie, appears to be about discovering the “real” Kylie, learning who she is beyond her public image. But alas, what would a Kylie show be with a little drama (before it’s even aired), right? The television and social media personality is now facing a lawsuit over the artwork used to promote the new show. The plaintiff, British artist Sara Pope, is claiming that one of the imagesused in the show’s trailer and across social media is a near exact copy of a work she did in 2015 titled “Temptation Neon”. The case has been filed as copyright infringement, and Pope is suing both Kylie and E!, along with parent company NBC Universal. The allegedly copied image is a neon logo “lip bite”, sporting a similar style to the lip logo that can be found on Kylie’s cosmetic brand. In theU.S. District Court in Los Angeles, Pope’s lawyers claimed that the images were used without the artist’s permission, and gave her no credit. While the conclusion of the lawsuit is obviously far away, it is hard to deny that the images do look nearly identical. Pope’s original artwork shows a pair of biting red lips, surrounded by a white neon glow, with a dripping design coming from the bottom. In court documents, Pope’s legal team notes that her original work is one of the first images that comes up when you Google “neon lips”, which means it would have been quite easy to find (and allegedly copy). Similarly, the Life of Kylie design shows a pair of biting lips, surrounded by a white neon glow and dripping design, with the only difference being that the color is a hot pink instead of red. The lawsuit file describes how they believe the copycatting came to be: “The finished artwork conveys glamour, intimacy, and sexual power – themes similar to defendant Kylie Jenner, who is building her brand around those themes. Defendants sought to build a brand through artwork that captures glamour, intimacy, and power. By their zeal, they found ‘Temptation Neon,’ and they copied it for their own profit – without consent, credit or compensation.” Sources close to the show production told TMZ that Kylie had little to do with the lip design, which was created by a third party. The 19-year-old herself has yet to comment on the case. This is not the first time a Jenner has been accused of copyright infringement, and Pope’s lawyers have been sure to use this in favor of their case.Earlier this year, photographer Michael Miller filed a lawsuit against the Jenner twins for using his photos of Tupac on T-shirts for their Kendall + Kylie brand, without permission. The Jenners issued an apology and pulled the t-shirts from retail. Kylie was also accused of idea-stealing last year, whenmakeup artist Vlada Haggerty claimed promotional images for the model’s cosmetic brand were a direct copy of her work. Both accusations have since been dropped, as Kylie pulled the t-shirt line from production and apologized to Haggerty by sharing an Instagram of one of her works. We’ll see if Kylie is able to work her way out of this one as swiftly.
