Apparently There’s ANOTHER Apocalypse This Month

Someone has made a prediction that the world is going to end. It’s not.

Ah, I guess I can't end the article there. Okay, let's run through all the exciting aspects of this story. Hooray!

The person making the claim is David Meade, who has been called a “Christian numerologist” by some outlets (although he told The Washington Post he was an astronomer). I think some other people have separately made the claim but I don't really care so I haven't looked into it that much.

It all stems from the number 33, says Meade. September 23 is 33 days after the August 21 total solar eclipse, Jesus lived for 33 years, and the name of God to the Jews (Elohim) is mentioned 33 times in the Bible.

Thus, the logical next step is that September 23 will begin the Rapture, where from my limited knowledge of the Bible, all the good people are punished by being sent to Heaven, and the rest of us have much more fun on post-apocalyptic Earth.

The upcoming Rapture is further foretold by the Moon passing in front of three planets this week – Mercury, Venus, and Mars.

"The world is not ending, but the world as we know it is ending," Meade told The Washington Post. "A major part of the world will not be the same the beginning of October."

There’s also a video on YouTube that says some similar stuff. It’s from a channel called "Unsealed" which, based on my extremely limited research, posts sensationalist videos on the imminent return of Jesus Christ.

Anyway, they’ve got this video with two million views, and it’s got a lot of dramatic music and stuff, and I think footage from the movie Left Behind at the end. The video kind of echoes Meade's comments, saying September 23 signals the "nearness" of the Rapture. Eek.

Here's the video if you'd like to watch it.

Oh wait, there was also some talk about Planet Nibiru. That’s the mysterious planet that we can’t see that’s supposedly on its way to us. Some of these theories say it's going to destroy us. I think. Anyway, it doesn’t exist. If it did, we’d notice it. Here are some thoughts from NASA.

I think that about wraps everything up, so how about some real science instead? We’ve got an actual story about a pitch black planet being found very far away. Or what about this one, where two museums in London got into a spat on Twitter. Ooh, and this is a fun one, where researchers identified 30 lost English words.

Okay! The end. I hope you enjoyed this article.
