(CNN)Democratic Rep. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois knocked Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Thursday night, arguing his recusal from Trump project examinations is insufficient, that he must "resign instantly" and recommended that Sessions needs to go to prison.

Asked on CNN's "Outfront" if there is any distinction in between Sessions and McCaskill, Gutierrez informed Erin Burnett, "He was under oath, when you lie under oath, that's called perjury and you go to prison for doing that."

"It is clear the recusal is inadequate" and "I believe Mr. Sessions has to resign instantly," Gutierrez stated.

He included that "the stability of the police and the judicial system is actually at stake here" and stated he thinks that Sessions resigning would be for the good of the nation.
