When little Ryder was just a baby, his parents received some unsettling news. Eleven days before Ryan’s first birthday, his parentslearned that he had a massive tumor in his spine. The tumor was so big, it was pushing on his spine. Ryder wasdiagnosed with cancer and an oncologist informed his parents that he may never be able to walk.

Then, something amazing happened.

A year after receiving those grim results, Ryder’s condition began to improve and he took his first steps. As time went on, he took on challenge after challenge, each one bigger than the last.

Today, Ryder is 3 years old. He has progressed from the baby who would never walk to the toddler who can ski on his own.

In the video below, posted on March 12, 2017, Ryder is all strapped in and ready to ski. His mom is his biggest fan, constantly cheering for him as he prepares to glide down a snowy slope.

She says, “Alright, keep walking,” something the doctors weren’t sure he would be able to do.

Soon, Ryder makes his way over to the area where the ground begins to slant. He slowly slides down with great control.

“Good job! Good!” his mom cries as she films his movement on camera. She asks him to turn toward her, and the quick learner does just that.

Ryder’s ability to ski is a moment that truly makes his parents proud. Hopefully there are many more such moments to come.
