(CNN)Rep. Luis Gutierrez invested part of Monday early morning in handcuffs. By the night, the Democrat from Illinois was totally free to discuss simply exactly what had actually taken place.

To Gutierrez, however, ICE has its eyes set on the incorrect targets.

"The truth is, they're pursuing DREAMers," he stated.

It's these so-called DREAMers, undocumented immigrants who were given the United States while kids, who Gutierrez was guaranteeing on Monday, when he staged a sit-in at a Chicago migration workplace.

"Somebody needs to defend them ... they are under hazard," he stated.

"When you see unfairness and unjustness ... it's part of exactly what being an American is, is to stand."

Gutierrez and a little delegation of supporters had actually participated in an ICE conference inquiring about particular cases. After not getting the responses they looked for, Gutierrez chose not to leave.

"When they threatened us with arrest, we stated 'jail us,'" he informed Burnett. "We came here to obtain responses."
